This is my 2nd attempt at reading Ken Follett. I don’t like the way he writes character, specifically women. I had high hopes for this book because the era is fascinating, and I really liked the dichotomy of the haves and have-nots. But I just couldn’t get over the bad writing.

A remarkable book. So complex and juggling the threads of so many interesting characters. Some are unforgivably awful, others charming and bent and many are just wonderful humans.
