An excellent read. TR was an amazing man. A good biography, reasonably well balanced. Perhaps it's easy to admit of TR's faults because they are so easily overshadowed by his virtues.

You don't need to be a fan of TR, politics, or the time period to enjoy this book. It's just a well-crafted great story.

This book is a very comprehensive biography of Theodore Roosevelt. It’s well researched and well cited. I think it’s a fantastic resource a great
Culmination of what we know about Theodore Roosevelt but there were times that the level of detail made it difficult for me to continue with. I do think it’s important that the book contains the level of detail it does as a way of preserving such detailed information like the way certain conversations went and journal entries and letters that may otherwise be lost.

A very dense book. I'm glad I had this on Kindle so I could highlight, bookmark and have words defined as I read. I'm sure some people appreciate the author going into minute detail but I also think this makes it a book for scholars and hardcore readers (aka not the faint of heart).

I love TR enough to have finished this and plan on reading the sequel about his time in the the White House, but I think most people who just want to read a biography could get a less researched and detailed version that covered his entire life in one book.

3.5 rounded up. Thought that it could have been condensed without losing too much, but it was still a well-written book that I learned a ton from. Will definitely pick up the other two books in the trilogy in the future. Teddy was such a fascinating character.

Great. Makes me want to know more about the man. Just as interesting and eclectic a man as I'd expected. Didn't know he had asthma and that was part of the reason(paired with inclination) he was so physical-to combat the asthma.

Theodore Roosevelt was a man of such vitality that just reading about his life gives you a secondhand high of energy. At the end of this book you'll want to storm a hill and scream at the top of your lungs, "BULLY!"
