This is a note to self to not follow through with books just because they were “available now” and “audiobook” and this especially if the first book was bad. So, I‘m too lazy to construct a real review, so here are just a few points:
- Why is this a fantasy novel? There is no use of powers anywhere!
- The characters from the last novel had nothing to do. Andy, Lenny and Jax had brief MCU-esque cameos and Kitt had had a few depressing chapters, but nothing else
- How can a book be so fast-paced, yet nothing happens? Seriously, they spend like half the book in the desert.
- The relationship between Paedyn and Kai was nice, I guess, but they always went back and forth, which got annoying
- the ending was good, and the only part I genuinely enjoyed, but couldn’t this just have been act 1 of the book? Cut out all the unnecessary stuff from the rest of the book, easy. This could have been a great duology, but publishers are obsessed with making trilogies, for some reason
