I keep telling myself that I'm done reading this series, but I just can't stop. I saw the audiobook pop up on Libby and thought I'd give it a try. I actually liked listening to the audiobook more than reading the actual book in this case, and I'm going to seek out audios of this series in the future. The biggest letdown for me with Lover Arisen is that we don't get any background on Balthazar. He's the MC and yet I don't know anything more about him than I did going into the book. Rayvn, Nate, and Lassiter were by far the most interesting part of the novel, and I am actually excited to read [b:Lassiter|61295517|Lassiter (Black Dagger Brotherhood #21)|J.R. I've been a big fan of this series, but I had a hard time feeling the connection between the main characters. Devina didn't disappoint and at times she had me laughing with her outlandish behavior. I am looking forward to reading Lassiter's book next year. I'm also excited for the short story about Darius as well.

The BDB characters usually have a lot of cheesy-jokey metaphors and pop culture references in their internal dialogues but the level of that in this book was pretty ridiculous and even annoyed me a few times. I’m excited to see where Lassiter’s storyline goes but I was pretty meh about this installment. The romantic/spicy relationship was better in this book than the previous one and I’m hoping I’m not burning out on my vampires but this was not my favorite.

I really enjoyed the formatting of this one, JR gives you so many more characters interactions this time around! Loved as always!!! Still highly recommending this series!

3.5/5 stars

This was surprisingly good, considering what I rated and reviewed Sahvage and Mae’s book. It still lacked that something that made me like the early books that much.

Lassiter and Rhavyn’s book is going to destroy me, can it come out faster?

I hate Devina

Yep, This would have been a five star but I still cannot stand that Devina jumped to this series from Ward's other series.

As for the rest of the book, I loved it. I liked the romance and I love all of the warriors and shellans.

I'm anxious to read the next book. Will it be the last?
