This is probably the worst Harry Potter book (because one of them has to be the worst) but it is still pretty fantastic. The audiobook read by Jim Dale is wonderful to listen to and I am continually impressed by all his perfectly distinct voices that give life to the characters (Lockhart is so loathesome!). The book is funny and dramatic and I will still give it five stars although I noticed a plot hole with this one I never thought about before. Regardless, what a wonderful series, some nice development of Ginny and some other characters and I am happy there is so much more to come.

I understand that the basilisk traveled through pipes but how did it get from the pipes to the hallways and back again? Someone should have noticed gaping holes in the walls.

This is my least-favorite of the Harry Potter series, which should say a lot, since I gave it four stars. It is a Harry Potter book, so it must be great, but the Chamber of Secrets part of the book just didn't draw me in as much as the climaxes of other books in the series did. Also, I didn't like Professor Lockhart.
