What a journey. This book is really hard to review without giving away any spoilers. I went in blind and was thinking it was a paranormal story, it wasn't. The twists, turns and AHA moments are there, if you can decipher the well placed clues. I love Mia's work, and this didn't disappoint.
UGH this PAINS me. Putting a 3-star rating on a Mia Sheridan book KILLS me...

...but I found myself SO CONFUSED while reading this book!
Quite literally, this was my face throughout MOST of the book:
I tried to understand it, truly I did. I even re-read it a FEW times in an attempt to work through what exactly was going on with the main characters, all to no avail.
The book started out great for me, but the second the first twist is revealed, I was a goner. It felt A LOT like a mixture of all of her books, but it just didn't quite work.
All this being said, Mia Sheridan is STILL hands down one of my favorite authors ever. One 'meh' book won't change that. #TeamMia #LoveMeSomeArcher #SorryForThisReview #DamnMyHonestOpinion!

disabilities (ARCHERS VOICE), a "REUNION" between two characters (FINDING EDEN), sacrificing happiness for the sake of the person you love (KYLAND)...All this being said, Mia Sheridan is STILL hands down one of my favorite authors ever. Another Mia Sheridan I just devoured. But I was left wondering WTF? What did I just read? Was any of it real? Or were they in the woods the entire time? I'm so confused, lol. Still, it was a really interesting story, and sweet that Ryan and Lily found each other. I thought it was funny that one of the characters talked about how authors must be crazy to have all these characters in their head and know exactly what they'll say, what they'll do. I never thought of it that way. I hope it's not true -- they're not clinically crazy. But I've always marveled at how the really great authors can make readers feel so much about people and places and situations that don't actually exist. And while I'm still not quite sure what I just read, it still made me feel for people and places and situations that don't actually exist.
Spoiler
Was Ryan really addicted to pain pills? Best friends with Holden who died? Was it really his friend's lodge? Were they ever actually in the moments described in the story?
This is going to be the shortest review simply because there isn't a whole lot that I can say without giving too much away.
I can't tell you about the characters, who I loved. I refuse to tell you any of the plot, it's brilliant. And I don't really even want to tell you how it made me feel, I felt ALL of the things. This is just simply one of those books that you have to go into completely blind in order to fully appreciate the story in all of its wonder.
This book was such a surprise but nothing short of the brilliance and beauty I've come to expect from Mia Sheridan. I'm left both impressed and scared of her ability to write this story in such an amazing and clear way. I know that I'll be thinking of this story and these characters for days, weeks, possibly months and can't wait to see how other readers react to it. So GO. PRE-ORDER IT. NOW. And then when you read it come and message me so we can talk about it!!!

Title: Midnight Lily
Series: Signs of Love
Author: Mia Sheridan
Release date: 1st March, 2016

Midnight Lily is unlike anything I have previously read from Mia Sheridan. It does however contain the core elements synonymous to her books that I love so much. Atmospheric writing, wonderfully generous protagonists and an epic love story at the heart of it all.
"We will never be perfect or without flaws, the lives we've been given are not like that. But, Lily, in my heart, you are perfect for me. Perfectly mine. And I'm yours."
Given the amount and variety of books we read it's wonderful feeling to still be genuinely surprised by novels. Mia Sheridan achieves this with Midnight Lily. It's a roller coaster of emotions, at times the situation is a desperately sad one, but I was uplifted by the hope & love at the core of the story.
It's takes a better reviewer than I to describe the story without spoiling it for the reader. It has to be read, to be felt, to experience the wonder (and mind-f*ck) of it all. Midnight Lily is one Mia Sheridan's edgiest books to date. I have replayed the story and characters in my mind countless times since I've finished reading. If that is not the sign of a great book, I'm not sure what is.
"I'm not afraid of the darkness. I've been there before. I'll step into it willingly, unhesitatingly, and I'll come find you. No one else could make that promise and mean it, Lily. No one. No one except me."

This is one of those books that you must go in with as little information as possible.
With that said, GO READ IT!!
With that said, GO READ IT!!
This book was so different from Mia's others. That isn't to say that I didn't love it just as much. I have been a devout Mia Sheridan fan since reading her first book and I can't wait to read her next. Midnight Lily is a story like you haven't read before. It has all the feels and lots of twists. Its beautiful in its own way, like all her Signs of Love novels are. I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say that I adored the characters and am still wrapping my head around the story after finishing it last night. <3
I don’t even know where to begin with this book. I’m fighting going back to read it again just because it was that good and there are things that I need to read over again just to make sure its right. I went into this book blind and I think that’s the best way to do it. The blurb doesn’t give you much.
Keep reading below if you don’t wanna go in blind, but want a little more info. I definitely won’t spoil it for you though.
So Holden is secluding himself away in his friend Brandon’s house because he has lost control of his life. He is addicted to alcohol and pain killers and being a professional football player is becoming too much. He has recently lost his friend Ryan and is grieving that too.
He comes upon a girl in the woods who he is not sure is a ghost/hallucination. All he knows is that she is beautiful. They get to know each other and spend time together in the woods. In a way they are both trying to find themselves.
I’m not giving you anymore. Just know that this book was sooo good and had a lot of emotions. There is a twist that I didn’t see coming. I had to put the book down and say ” Whaaaaaaaa” If you allow yourself to you just go with it I think that you will experience the emotions that the author was trying to give with this book. The ending was intentional and you will be a little confused. I know I was. But i’ve read books like this before and they are my favorite kind. It’s an ending that is final because there is literally nothing left, but it still lets you continue on in your imagination. That’s my kind of book.
5 stars!
