The first 70% of this book was perfect. I loved the characters, the plot was unique and fun, the relationship was fascinating to follow. And then without warning, it became incredibly dull and convoluted. And then it kind of just ended. Sometimes the plot was vague for the sake of being vague and it was annoying. But that first 70%…. God I loved it.

This was an entirely new world and adventure from Ruby but felt like her Aspect and Anchors series. It was a slight slow burn, enemies to lovers, different worlds/ people story. I enjoyed it more than some of her recent IPB but not as much as her other fantasy books. With that said, it’s still a solid 5 star read and I think if you like Ruby Dixon, scifi romance mixed with fantasy, or low level monster romance then you’ll really like this one.

I wanted to read this book because the premise of being locked in a tower with an enemy seemed like a good one.
I found it slow, maybe because time passing in a tower with no light would feel extremely slow but when the romance did start up it was raunchy. It made me feel a bit ill to be honest.
