I went into this book blind. It was AMAZING. I haven't read a book like this in so long. When I finished it I gave a huge sigh and then raved about it to my husband. There were a few surprises along the way and I definitely didn't see one coming. It was so good.

I recommend Bound to the Shadow Prince if you like ACOTAR, forced proximity, spicy smut, monster love, dark fantasy, and stories told in first person point of view!

492 pages and 21 hours audiobook.
Considering the story covers several years as Princess Candra is stuck inside a tower with Nemeth, a Fellian enemy, I slightly forgave the length of the book. The pace was steady, but on the slower side. This is my second Dixon book, which I like because her FMC feel like they care about others. The spice is great, there's a few twists on a predictable plot line, and a few funny lines.
I liked it, but I had to knock stars off simply because every male wants to sexually assault Candra and the "trust me and I'll tell you later, just TRUST ME" clique.
Another thing that bothered me was

Spoiler
Candra has an illness that makes her weak and she must take medicine through injection. I didn't fully understand how long it would last and how often she had to take it unless it was told. So for scenes when supplies were low, I kept thinking about sanitization and needles and became increasingly frustrated. Especially when her cure is Nemeth AND his cure is her.

I'm struggling.
I'm honestly shelving this one to come back later.
It's...... Long.
I'm all for some world building but so far I'm reading the same annoyingly selfish personality traits of the MFC over and over. I will come back to this because I'm the end I find the story very interesting and the MMC is a super hot fantasy cinnamon roll.
I'll probably grab the audiobook to go from here.
