I loved the characters and plot of this story. In typical Ruby serial fashion it is a bit long winded at times, but nothing turning the audiobook speed up to 2X won’t fix. Ruby may be best known for her sci-fi romances but when she sets out to do a fantasy romance she does not mess around. Highly recommend this book.

Now THIS is storytelling.

Incredible how much happened here. Major waypoints are about 30%, 70%, and 90% through the book. Woooow, Ruby D always tells a very thorough tale and this title is no exception to that rule. All twists and turns and character developments are well (and sneakily!) set-up in advance. The only crime is the under-utilization of the dagger. Guess this realm doesn't play 20 Questions.

This is a stand-alone book! This is not an installment of the Bound to the [X] God' series.

This is a great audiobook at 2X speed.

There is surprise pregnancy, but if you pay attention to how often its mentioned that she is 'barren' I think you could probably figure out what is coming. Also its Ruby Dixon and at this point i think we all know the preg kink goes hard. The end seemed a little mashed together, would have preferred a situation where they find some remote island and build a home there instead of what actually happened.

The story had a lot of promise and I'm a Ruby Dixon fan, so this was a big let down. The FMC is so insufferable. I thought there might be a redemption arc for her as a spoiled, sickly princess learns to survive on her own. But no...she remained an idiot who did idiot things and was painfully one dimensional. If you found Violet from FW to be grating, this FMC will hit the same nerve...maybe even worse. And to add insult to injury, the story is so darn long! Overall, boo hiss. 👎 👎

Almost a 5-star read, except I wasn’t a fan of the plot twist and distrust at the end. Otherwise, I really enjoyed watching the characters evolve. Love a good slow burn
