I feel like the book had the potential to get better and I kept reading and kept waiting for it to get better. Then at 33% I just couldn't wait for the characters to do something any longer.... They just kept talking about doing things and not actually doing them. This is a slow novel about interpersonal relationships, if that is your bag then this book is for you!

The characters lacked much in the way of redeeming qualities.
My first full read since having my daughter so it took me a while longer than usual. I wanted to get this book last year as we went to Maine as part of our honeymoon, but I didn't want to pay full price and it wasn't available at the library. I have since managed to get it for 99p on Kindle (has since gone back up in price) and am glad I did. Enjoyable family saga told from the point of view of 4 female characters - a matriarch, a daughter-in-law, a daughter gone back/come good again, and a granddaughter. Can imagine this would be a good beach read / in the bath read :)
If I could have half stars this would be 3.5 stars. I enjoyed all the Maine details and the idea about a joined family summer house. A few of the story lines I found quite boring or not interesting. The book was a good read, but I didn't rush to read it some nights.
Story of family intrigue. Pretty intresting, and then nothing. It just stops. I'm not one for neatly, tied-with-a-bow endings, but I didn't feel like this slice-of-life book gave me anything. I didn't get anything out of it and none of the conflict -- or even just issues -- were addressed.
