The characters are all very vibrant, alive and distinct from each other. I really felt like I got to know them through these short snapshots into their lives. However, I struggled to make it through this, maybe because I'm accustomed to a more linear storyline or plot. It was lovely to see into the characters lives but it didn't motivate me through the whole book. Still recommend, but not my personal favorite.

I started this book expecting a novel, but instead I found a collection of stories all collected by a fil rouge: an all-encompassing portrayal of womanhood. Twelve different people, each describing the struggles, satisfactions, joys and perils of being Girl, Woman, Other.
