DID NOT FINISH

5 Irresistible Reasons to Read This Book

1. A Love That Never Faded

West Haven isn’t just an ex—he’s the boy who taught her poker, kissed her at 16, and shattered her heart at 23. Now, forced to work together to save his family’s ranch, every glance crackles with decades of unresolved longing.

2. "Enemies"-to-Lovers (With a Twist)

She’s the new owner of his legacy. He wants her gone… but needs her.

Dnf 30% I was looking for romance but found none, and I am not much in Favor dual timelines narration

3. Montana Ranch Atmosphere

Crisp mountain air
Rustic barns and hardworking cowboys
A family legacy hanging in the balance

4. Emotional Time Bombs

"We’re just here to say goodbye."
Shared childhood memories vs. adult betrayals
The agonizing question: Can love rebuild what loss destroyed?

5. Devney Perry’s Signature Style

Small-town grit meets poignant romance
Complex family dynamics (dysfunctional but loyal)
Slow-burn reconciliation with glorious payoff

I’ve been a big fan of Devney Perry’s books for quite some time, so I was really excited to dive into this one with its charming small-town romance, cowboy charm, and ranch setting. While this book had all the right elements, it didn’t quite hit the mark for me this time around. The plot had some intriguing potential, but I found the execution a bit lacking with its secrets and character decisions feeling a bit.. puzzling.

It’s always tough to see a book fall short of expectations, especially when it’s from an author you admire. While this particular series didn’t resonate with me, I still have a lot of love for Perry’s previous works. It’s all part of the reading journey sometimes a book just isn’t the right fit, and that’s okay. Here’s to many more great reads ahead!

For me, this was an ok read. Started it off for me as a big miss, but it got slightly better from me. I liked West and felt like he had a lot working against him. Indya was fine. There was a lot of miscommunication in this story, and usually, I don't mind that trope, but this was a lot.
