It just wasn’t giving what I needed, honestly. This is the second book I’ve read from this author, and I’ve realised what’s missing—there’s no yearning, no tension, no slow build-up to the romance. No brush of the hands, no stolen glances… just suddenly they’re together and that’s it. It felt a bit flat emotionally.

I did think the plot was interesting. I liked the ranch setting and the whole fixing-it-up storyline, plus the back-and-forth timelines were a nice touch. It was cool seeing the relationship between West and Indya develop that way.

The flashbacks were probably my favourite part—15-year-old Indya’s emotions felt super real and relatable. That part was done really well. But overall, it just didn’t hit the way I wanted it to. Not terrible, just not a favourite.

This was a solid DP book - but it wasn't my favorite (read: Jasper Vale). While I loved the familiar background settings of ranch living, cowboys/ranchers, being in the great outdoors in Montana etc., the plot and the pace felt rushed, in parts, and I don't feel like it did the full story, proper justice.

Indya and West have this epic "The Notebook" style romance that has spanned years - filled with misunderstandings and misconceptions - which have keep bringing them together & tearing them apart. Now, they finally have their second chance when Indya buys West's family ranch and wants to fix it up, much to West's chagrin & opposition (both of which are shortlived).

The Indya-West relationship itself had so much potential to explore - I felt it got side tracked by a number of side plots (e.g., Indya hires a contractor who used to stalk West's mom, so she does the right thing and fires him - but that takes up space).

Their relationship at points feels like they know each other so well - and then at other points, it feels like they're strangers. It was more than just the ups & downs that go with any epic romance relationship that spans the ages. There was definitely some degree of whiplash from trying to understand where they stood with each other and more importantly, how they got there. It wasn't always so apparent.

Bottomline, I still really liked the book and would recommend it for an enjoyable, good read - it just wasn't particularly memorable, for me.
