Ik kende deze woorden al langer voordat ik dit boek kende en al helemaal voordat ik het las. Fijn dat ik het nu eindelijk eens heb gelezen. Audre Lorde kan de verschillende facetten die bij racisme horen vastpakken en als een soort kubus van alles kanten bekijken, zo voelen haar essays.

Ik vond het wel best pittig om doorheen te komen, kon vaak mijn aandacht niet goed bij de essays houden door het toch best ingewikkelde taalgebruik. I am perhaps not smart enough. Haar essay over haar zoontje vond ik daarentegen veel fijner. Het was een stuk concreter voor mijn gevoel.

i find it hard to rate collections, but overall these essays were strong and quite modern for their time. i read most of this for an assignment which made me dive deeper into the intersectionality aspect & i definitely focused most on essays relevant for that

I read this with a book club and i thought it was helpful to have to read it so critically and with friends. I think Man Child was my favorite essay, along with Eye to Eye.
