Final Girls

Good, not great—and I loved Survive The Night, but I’m not sure if it’s the 90s serial killer trope that kind of lost me here and there.
Again, totally entertaining, but was not nearly as shocking as the folks who’ve been recommending this one kept saying. I mean, did HE actually have a motive? The ‘strong final girl’ thing seems like it doesn’t hold a ton of water.
adventurous dark mysterious tense fast-paced

The more I got through this book, the less I wanted to read it. What starts off as a interesting premise of a final girl trying to project this picture perfect life when it’s blown up by the arrival of another final girl, slowly just turns into a run-of-the-mill, lackluster thriller where our main character grows to confront her trauma, but we don’t get to see her outside of that.

That - and the whole story starts rushing to a very weak and thrown together ending halfway throughout the book. Like it truly starts picking up steam for NO REASON, and then that steam just runs out by the final few chapters.

Pretty much everyone was done dirty by their lack of development in this book and while I was starting to try to get into Riley Sager’s work, I just don’t think I am a fan.

My teenager brought this book home and I thought wouldn't it be fun to read something they've read too and then we can talk about it! Unfortunately there's not much to discuss. Ha! But it was entertaining and twisty enough to keep me engaged. A teen horror movie on paper.

I think I’m salty bc i didn’t see the plot twists coming at all.

Absolutely fucking love Tina the killer of disgusting gropey men - you go girl!

Main character Quincy - i mean sorry but  Quincy the name says it all. I get she went through a traumatic experience but why does she have to act so pathetic like get over it and be cool like
Tina
or Lisa. I guess the point is to show that everyone grives and responds to trauma differently.

Riley Sager slayed in the fact that all of the characters (even the trivial ones) had such intricate backstories. Except for boring Jeff he literally reminded me of the purple wiggle the whole time cuz bro was basically asleep anyway

Despite my utter loathing of memory loss as a thriller plot device, this one is an excellent follow-up/addition to the classic slasher-horror genre.

2.5???

Had really similar feelings when reading Lock Every Door. I find Riley Sager to be predictable and cheap with twists, yet his books are still entertaining I guess.

Great fun read! Tried to figure out the ending many times and was again surprised! Great job Riley Sager.
