So pleasantly surprised by this book - absolutely did not see the twist coming and it was brilliantly written. Cannot wait to read more if his stuff!

It’s very hard to find a book like this that’s great and so why am I always surprised when I read one and it’s not great? Lauren Beukes and Gillian Flynn can do it, not too many others. This book’s premise was great— parallel story lines; present day and a deliciously scary flashback that was basically a ‘cabin in the woods’ movie, which was great. The execution (haha, see what I did there) was okay but just okay.

Reminded me a lot of survive the night. it wasn't my favorite but it kept me interested. Took a little too long to get really going, but i didn't predict the culprit at all. the twist caught me off guard.
Slashery. Kind of campy. I didn't guess all the twists which is always fun. Kept my attention towards the end, but I'm not sure it will be that memorable. And I'm not one to overanalyze plots in popcorn thrillers, but there were some things in this one that bugged me.

I was disappointed to say the least because of the hype this book had. Characters were flat, the last 20% of the book is where it picked up the pace. And the final twist was confusing. This book just was not for me.
