UFF THE SLOW BURN BURNED SO GOOD WITH THIS ONE!!!! Let me tell you, the only reason i didn’t devour this book in a day was because im busy with college. BUT OMG WHAT A FUCKING BOOK!!!!! The love Arek had for Matt was so pure and i was living for all their gay pinning!!!! It hurt so good, all those “i love him but he doesn’t love me but really he does i just don’t know it yet” And you would think that the plot would get boring because Arek was wooing all this other people BUT NO! Because it was don’t so freaking well that it kept you interested and it was funny as fuck! I love Arek so much as a character you have no idea. These book had one of the most don’t tropes ever (king that has to marry) and gave it such an unic twist and personality. I’ve been reading lots of easy going, low quality reads lately so this was refreshing as fuck. Im not really into YA anymore but this was top tier good. It needed more romance time but they made up for it in the last chapters.

yeah dnfed at 50% verryy tropy even for ya and it was meh. read like fanfic and not even a good one
Summary of this book: "However, I think we'd both agree we have to work on our communication."
But seriously... Most of the time I don't like miscommunication trope because it makes me super frustrated and this time it was the case again, plus the fact that the main characters were in love from the beginning made the romance aspect a little boring... BUT the characters are so likeable and funny and we got to know every member of the gang not just Matt and Arek and I liked to read about how they try to heal the kingdom after 40 year tyranny so I wouldn't say it was a bad book but completely different from what I expected, and because I had great expectations about this book the end left me a little disappointed.
Also, I would have loved to see more about Arek and Matt in their relationship because even though they are getting on my nerves I feel like they are really a match made in heaven.
I am nice so I give this book a solid 4.5, but if you really hate miscommunication then you should know that this book is definitely not for you.

I did not like this book at all, but I hate rom-coms so I'm biased.
This book was so cute! Arek's attempt to woo his friends were hilarious failures and I honestly found myself laughing at results.
I love how you are thrusted into a combat scene at the end of the question. I love all of the character's personalities, I even warmed up to Harlow.
The one thing I didn't like was the time skips, which kind of threw me off at times, partially in the beginning. I know they were used to speed up the plot, but I wish we could have seen more of Arek and co. working as rulers for the kingdom.
Also, we totally need a second book all about their quest! I loved the little tidbits of information we get throughout the book, but I want to read all about it!

Super cute love story with a great cast of friends. It does what it says on the tin, made me laugh, made me sad, made me smile.
Sex is positively talked about and physical attraction is mentioned, but the story skips over detailed descriptions of the acts themselves.
