He remembers all the stories his grandfather told him about a place where the ocean meets the sky. So Finn decides to set sail and go on an adventure to look for this magical place to find his grandfather so that he can say goodbye. It's a pretty beautiful and touching story.
Despite the gorgeous cover, I did not care for the illustrations at first. It was only when Finn arrived at the place where the ocean meets the sky that I started to really enjoy the art. I think the artist's skills shine through the most when it comes to drawing more whimsical and steampunk illustrations.

A touching story with exceptional artwork. Follow Finn as he builds a boat and sets out to find the place of his grandfather's stories. Taking the trip they'd always talked about going on together, Finn sees fantastic sights, travels to remarkable places, and deals with the loss of his grandfather.
The Fan Brothers create a captivating journey complete with magic, wonder, and beauty.
While the text is simple, the illustrations speak for themselves. There are worlds packed into its pages. Though seemingly simple, the story exists on multiple levels, from the fantastic, to the realistic, combining a sense of adventure with the acceptance of loss and remembrance.
Young readers will enjoy the spectacular sights and magical places. A nice resource for those who have lost a love one in showing ways to honor and connect with them.
A wonderful adventure and a treat to the eyes and the heart.

Read for Librarian Book Group
A boy builds a boat in honor of his decesaed grandfather and sails to where the ocean meets the sky. There is a lot to look at, I especially loved Library Island with bookish birds.
My slight quibble involves the grandfather's age. Would he have really been 90 and had a grandson so young?

Wow! That art was so pretty! Definitely worth reading just to look at the pictures. But to make it all better, the story was sweet too.
This book is absolutely gorgeous! A young boy decides to build a boat in honor of his grandfather who has passed, but when he falls asleep a brilliant journey awaits him. He wants to find the place where the ocean meets the sky, just like in his grandpa's stories. He might just find a bit more magic than expected.
