I read this earlier this year when it was published and this is another must buy by the Fan Brothers!
This book reminded me a lot of Maurice Sendak’s works as it blurs the boundary between dreams and reality. There is a lot to discuss with children and it would be interesting to hear their interpretation of the story and where Finn goes when he finds the place where ‘Ocean Meets Sky’. Children could write their own stories where they discover a hidden place and the adventure they would go on, alongside drawings. The book could be linked to something like ‘The Chronicles of Narnia’ or ‘The Secret Garden’ as it’s centred around the discovery of a magical, hidden place.
The Library Islands thrilled my book-loving soul, and the bird's eye view images were breathtaking. Oh yeah, my kids (2 & 12) liked it too.
