5 Sailing Stars!!!
Picked up this Beautiful Gem at my local library last week for my daughter and just realized its up for a Goodreads Choice Award! Its a new picture book about a young boy who builds a boat, and sets sail to find a place his grandfather told him about…the spot where the ocean meets the sky. Full of Gorgeous illustrations, this one is sure to captivate young readers, as they too, read and sail along, on this Magical Journey.

I read this earlier this year when it was published and this is another must buy by the Fan Brothers!

I thought Ocean Meets Sky is full of beautiful illustrations but it wasn't as magical to me as was [b: The Night Gardener|18405537|The Night Gardener|Jonathan Auxier|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1411447390l/18405537._SY75_.jpg|26040410].
I love the concept of the ocean meeting the sky. I loved how things were upside down and that there were whale and ship clouds. Unfortunately I wasn't wowed unlike in his previous picture book.

Gorgeous, imaginative illustrations. The story was also good- comforting in a very subtle way- but I was more into the artwork.
I just adore the Fan Brothers' books. Fantasy meets illustration in the picture books, with much to make the reader linger on each double page spread. The detail is amazing, and they tend to incorporate both sharp line and vague images, wherever each is suitable.
This story of a little boy missing his grandfather and embarking on a dream that takes him to a place in one of his grandfather's stories is so enchanting. I loved the ships and the incorporation of Chinese dragons into the pictures. The boy's boat floating up into the sky also reminded me of Studio Ghibli productions.
Highly recommended.

My children love this book's illustrations and I love the nuance of the story. There are many layers to it so that readers of all ages can enjoy it. Lovely.
