Hm. This kind of felt like an epilogue to Wizard of Earthsea. Same themes, same overall concept of a quest without a direction, same moments of glory.
CONTENT WARNING: (no actual spoilers, just a list of topics. Perhaps a slight spoiler for Wizard of Earthsea)
Things to love:
-The writing. She's amazing, what else needs to be said?
-Ged. Poor, serious Ged who works so hard just to be. He is a wonderful character, if somewhat distant in this book.
-The quest. The adventure part was fun.
Things that weren't up to par:
-The story. It was very similar to Wizard, but with a tagalong.
-The conclusion. It was rather abrupt and trod the same themes as the others.
Enjoyable, quick, better than Tombs but it felt like the seed of an idea, or an offshoot of an old one that could have been easily mashed into the rest.

This whole series seems to be about death. Its nature is explored heavily. Also addiction.Things to love:

There is a good core to each of the first 3 Earthsea books but the characters all come down with a bad case of unrelatability. The Farthest Shore makes me keenly aware that main characters ought to be curious, kind, and bland. They are a base on which to build a story. And both Arren and Ged provide an unstable foundation.
Not my favorite of the series but I have a feeing it has the most that will stick with me for a long time. A thoughtful (luke's favorite word alert) reflection on mortality and the importance of looking at death every now and then
pierde mucho fuelle al final, y ha hablado UNA mujer en todo el libro, durante 2 páginas y encima estaba loca...
“The old dragon Kalessin looked at him from one long, awful, golden eye. There wArrenges beyond ages in the depths of that eye; the morning of the world was deep in it. Though Arren did not look into it, he knew that it looked upon him with profound and mild hilarity.”
I mean Le Guin does that stuff all the time. She just drops a couple of sentences that are so profound and masterfully pieced together and you're like ...

My tiny, peasant brain has nothing else to add. 5 stars.

Another very different novel from the first 2 in the series, this is darker concerning the death of magic, is more a quest story like the first novel but this one is much darker, drug addicts, slavery, madness.
