I read this strictly because I have been wanting to read Ilona Andrews for a while, and I found this anthology at the library. The best part is her story was the most memorable of them all for me, and I enjoyed the writing and storyline.

Immediately, the reader gets the impression that Kate Daniels is a badass, and once she takes on a one-night bodyguard job it becomes a proven fact that she's nobody to mess with.

I was intrigued by what seems to be Russian mythology within the plot of the story, and I need to remember to look up some of the terms mentioned (like volkhvi, which are said in the story to both be bad news and servants of pagan gods) because I'm curious about the origin of those terms and concepts.

I need to buy myself the Kate Daniels series so I can read it, 'cause this story made me want to read about Kate's adventures more than ever.

Got this one as an audio. Some of the stories are definitely worth 5/5. Out of this collection there was only one story that seemed too slow. The rest are excellent.

If you like the genre of urban fantasy or want to read some to get a feel for it this is a good book. Many of the stories are set in existing universes by established authors so this is also a good way to see if you will like the novels and series for which many of the authors are known.

Rachel Caine's "Even a Rabbit will Bite" is by far my favorite out of this anthology. For me entertaining fiction is at its best when it makes you think a bit and doesn't have some trite easy ending.

This was pretty uneven for me. I really enjoyed some of the stories but others left me quite cold. I wonder if it is related to having a familiarly with the author. The best of the lost are Ilona Andrews' - "A Questionable Client" (which made me want to read more of the Kate Daniels books); Jim Butcher's "Even Hand"; and Rachel Caine's "Even a Rabbit Will Bite." The rest of the stories ranged from boring to ok.

There were a few good stories-- mostly in the beginning and then it started to fade for me... :/ I read it for the Kate Daniels story, which I really enjoyed!! Finally seeing how Kate met Saimon was really cool. I wonder if the acorn thing will come up again... hmmm I will need to keep going with this series ahaha.
I've never read anything by Jim Butcher but after this I really want to! There were other stories that have made me want to check out new authors and other stories that make me stay away from certain authors...

Hit and miss on some of the stories. There are one or two that stand out in my mind ('A Questionable Client' and 'Beknighted') and the other stories I can only vaguely remember what they were about.

After flipping through the book again one other story stood out that I had loved, but forgotten the title too. "Even a Rabbit will bite". Bit of a twist ending that had me tearing up. Lovely story and I plan on pursuing more of this particular authors works (Rachel Caine).

Enjoyed the stories by Andrews, both Butchers, Elrod, Caine, and Vaughn. The Pettersson one was pretty good too. The Knight story was truly awful. I don't know how that one got stuck in here. I would have given this collection four stars if that story hadn't been included.
