Upper Elementary (3 & 4) girls will especially enjoy this book. I ready to read the next book in the series. I love the aunt.

This is our school’s current One Book, One school read. Every family got a copy and read it at home, one chapter a day. I read it at home as well. It was a really cute book that had diversity but wasn’t so in your face. I thought the message was great, and it kept me invested even as an adult. I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator did a great job. Her accents for people of different races didn’t sound forced or bad haha. The kids have loved reading this book at home, surprisingly most of them have done it with their families! They like telling me about the bitten haha.

One of my students was reading this so I wanted to read along side him. A great story to highlight strength in diversity.

A cute juvenile novel my 9 year old niece told me was the BEST.

There are five types of magic and strict rules on how to follow them. Nory can’t her her magic to work right, she would start as a kitten and the grow dragon wings. Or turn into an elephant-skunk combo. She fails the entrance to her dads magic school, and goes to live with her aunt and attend school for kids with wonky magic.

It’s got a lot of lessons on acceptance without being preachy and having a good sense of humor. It’s a good book for its target audience.

Cute little magic school story, not fabulous or anything, and a bit awkwardly written in spots, but enjoyable.
