Cooper Clay turns out to be gay, which as an LGBTQ+ person I loved.
The characters aren’t perfect, which made them very lovable to me. I’m not usually a romance person, but there were a few couples that formed and even some that broke up. The ending was very predictable, which is what knocked it down to a 3.75, but if you’re more interested in the characters’ journey than the actual ending, this would be great for you.

I expected much more mystery/actual investigation from this book, it wasn't really a mystery book. The author focused more on the characters than the actual mystery. When the investigation finally started, it was too quick and easy solution.
But I think the ending was worth it, it was a fantastic plot twist.

This book was definitely worth all of the hype! The plot was so original, I haven’t read anything like it! The idea of a breakfast club style high school murder mystery was genius. I had high expectations for this book, and it met and exceeded them. The story was told in shifting POVs for all 4 of the main characters, which you get the hang of after a few chapters. The whole thing was very exciting and captivating, and it made me want to keep reading! I feel like this is a totally binge-worthy book to read in one sitting. I don’t think there was a moment in this book where I expected what would come next, totally shocking. My jaw literally dropped at a few points in the book. I loved the twist on the high school stereotypes as well, adding more unexpected elements and layers, and a lot of relatability to the readers. This definitely deserved to be made into a show, but I would say the show was definitely not as good as the books. Highly recommend, this deserves all of the hype.
Age rating: 14+ (closed door, no s*xual content, but some violence and curing)

Fun, easy to read and interesting YA mystery. Was more predictable in parts than not but still fun to read and kept me engaged. Heaps of typical tropes which was fine but I think that's what made some things predictable.
I don't really have any intent to continue the series unless maybe I want something easy and kind of mindless to listen to.
Multiple cast audiobook which I always enjoy.
