Having started with the Knight’s Ridge series, it’s obvious to me that this is one of Tracy Lorraine’s earlier works. The writing is not nearly as strong and is VERY repetitive. And the reason for Jake’s initial hatred of Amalie is super thin and hard to believe. The thing that bothered me the most though was it was obvious that a British author was trying to write American teens. It’s funny, because one of things that I was impressed with reading Wicked Knight was that Stella’s chapters sound pretty authentically American before switching back to more British turns of phrase for Sebastian’s chapters. It probably helps that that series takes place in London and the majority of characters are in fact British, but I thought the transition between the different cultural colloquialisms was done really well. The same definitely cannot be said for what I have read of the Rosewood High series as it is supposed to take place in Florida and there are too many British-isms for it not to be distracting. Probably won’t finish this series, but I’ll still check out Lorraine’s books that take place across the pond as I am OBSESSED with the Knight’s Ridge books.

Thorn is the first book in the Rosewood High series by Tracy Lorraine, it focuses on Amalie, a British girl, who was forced to move to America as a result of her parents death and attend Rosewood High. Whilst there, she meets Jake Thorn a guy with a definite chip on his shoulder who decides to take his anger out on Amalie.

I really enjoyed this book, I've had this series sitting on my TBR for ages and I'm so glad I finally read it! It felt so good diving back into a Bully romance again, there's just something about them (especially at a school or university atmosphere) that I just can't help but love!

The characters in this were so good! I loved the morally grey Jake and how gradually overtime Amalie and I began to understand him and his actions more. He had so much pain in him and I'm glad Amalie was able to bring him happiness.

Amalie was amazing too, I really liked her character. I love how she didn't want to lead on someone and how much she emphasised that it was good to see the portrayal of that. Someone being aware of someone's feelings and not being oblivious - it was a nice change.

Their relationship was so good and I'm excited to see glimpses of them in the next books! The side characters were AMAZING, I love Mason's character already and Ethan is so interesting! Camila annoyed me a little, but her and Mason intrigue me so much - I am definitely excited to read their book next!

Definitely give this series a chance!

The bad boy meets good girl trope done right!

I am reeling after just finishing this book. The bully romance is a genre that can very easily get messed up. There is a fine line between the author making a completely undesirable villain in the “bully” and what Tracy Lorraine has done here with Jacob Thorn. He ticks all the boxes!
A**hole
Devil may care attitude
High school glory
Sexy as sin
Troubled past

When english rose Amalie shows up in town, fresh from the trauma of losing both of her celebrity parents, she is a thorn in the side of Jake. He sees her as everything he hates! Privileged, fake and vapid. He makes it his goal in life to make her days in his town a living hell. But, though he makes good on that promise, the more he looks into her eyes, the less he sees the hate and resemblance to the person he despises most, but instead, the longing for the girl he is slowly realizing her to be: strong and beautiful... and far too good for the likes of him.

Amalie is quickly outcasted by most of the school due to Jake‘a authority. Armed with only one real friend, it makes things a little easier. But what boggles Amalie’s mind is why she finds herself so undeniably drawn to the boy who torments her. Is it because she can see past the hate in his stare to the pain that lurks within him?

It’s been a while since I got those angsty flutters in my stomach from reading a great romance. This was a phenomenal read and my first from this author. I can happily say it will not be the last!!! I am in the edge of my seat here as I (not so patiently) wait for Mason‘a story next.

Nice story

After suffering the sudden and tragic loss of her parents, Amalie is forced to move to the states to live with her grandma. Not only must she leave her home in London but she also has to start at a new school a year behind everyone her own age. On her first day she gets a less than stellar welcome from the head cheerleader and the king of the school, Jacob aka Jake Thorn makes it very clear that she is not welcome at Rosewood High. From the moment that Jacob sees Amalie he instantly hates everything that she stands for and where she comes from. He blames her for all the bad things that have happened to him in his life and he vows to make her pay for it all. Until he realizes that Amalie is nothing like the woman that hurt him and he regrets every single thing he did to her.

Jake was an absolute jerk and although the motivation wasn't explicitly revealed right away I knew what it was pretty early on and my heart ached for him. I felt so bad for the troubled boy that was still struggling with his pain and was taking it out on Amalie. I wanted to hug him and tell him to give up the hate. I thought Amalie was pretty strong and had a pretty good back bone considering all she went through. I really respected her except when it came to Camila. She rubbed me the wrong way with how she didn't seem to are about Amalie's apprehensions. But Amalie was pretty awesome. I loved how she didn't cower and back down to Jake and his antics. And then when she found out what his issues were she was there for him 100% even though he didn't deserve it. Jake and Amalie were pretty amazing together and their chemistry was intense. Loved this story immensely and highly recommend it. Tracy Lorraine is quickly becoming a one click for me.

I loved this bully romance!! Jake is the ultimate bad boy of high school and Amelie just had a huge life change before meeting this all consuming bully. The angst, chemistry, and the storyline had me obsessed with this book. I felt for each character especially Jake even though he was the bully but you learn so much about him and can’t help but understand and want to root for him. I can’t wait for the next one in the series!

Not the best, it's a commonly used argument.
Thing were moving too fast between the characters but it was fine in general
