RE-READ
I have now reread this book a handful of times because, well, I really enjoy it. It is officially a 5 star read from me now. I've grown to really love Tracy's writing.

I originally state below that the characters felt underdeveloped and that the relationship was lacking.

I was wrong.

I mentioned their relationship development was overshadowed by drama. And while it was, the more times I read this story, the more I picked up on.

So I was wrong.

Rereading this book has seriously opened my eyes to misconstruing plots and developments after just ONE read. I should know by now that the more times you read a book, the more you pick up on it.

Thorn is a solid 5 star read for me now. And I enjoy the hell out of it.

This is a mild bully romance that has quite a bit of push/pull and steam, but the development of both main characters and their relationship was lacking...

Amalie is an English rose who is thrust into American high school drama after her parents die. When she meets the angry eyes of the popular quarterback, her life is shrouded in bullying, taunts, and secret swoon-worthy encounters with the enemy.

Jake is the popular guy with a massive chip on his shoulder. He constantly compares Amalie to "her" and later we find out who she is and all the reasons for his initial hatred of Amalie comes to life. The reasons weren't good enough for me so that took away from the story a bit.

...She might not be the woman who ruined my life, but right now, she's the closest thing I've got. ...

Jake was really brutal with Amalie. He did some screwed up things and she just took it and lusted after him. She saw something in his eyes that drew her in. I liked that aspect but the development was overshadowed by drama.

I did adore how they finally fell together. While it was rushed, it was extremely sweet and gratifying seeing the dramatic changes Jake made.

..."You, Jake. I just need you."
"Fuck." A ball of emotion I'm not all that used to clogs my throat and the backs of my eyes burn as I stare down at her beauty. "I love you, Amalie. I love you so fucking much." I don't give her time to respond, instead I slam my lips down on hers, intent on showing her just how much I mean those words.
...

What a fantastic start to The Rosewood series

First off I’ve finally popped my Tracy Lorraine cherry and I already feel so connected to her writing and especially to the characters in this series. Everything thing in this book is written with the right balance to keep the reader hooked from start to end; giving us a glimpse of the other characters in the books to follow without taking away from the main characters,

I love Amalie and Jake’s story, the angst and tension was there like an undercurrent pulling me under and against the current.

Jake is the King of Rosewood High but had his own secrets he’s hides despite being the popular jock and Amalie the new girl, from London, becomes his instant target. She’s surviving her own personal loss and tragedy and just wants stay out of the limelight and to survive high school until she can graduate.

The tension is high as they collide despite Jake setting out to ruin her, their story hits deep. I enjoyed Tracy Lorraine’s take on the tormentor bully and the new girl in this Enemies To Lovers YA High School romance.

5 Thorn-y STARS!!

Typical enemies to lovers storyline, but was well done. Tracy once again did a great job at dragging you into the world she is writing about. I did listen to the audio version and although I enjoyed the story itself, I wasn't overly fond of the male voices used. I did however like the fact the characters seemed to be voiced by themselves when talking instead of just whoevers point of view that chapter.

This book! Wow! Jake hates Amalie from the first moment he sets eyes on her. He’s hurtful, spiteful and malicious towards her for no reason at all, and to be honest you hate him, because as hot as this football playing bad boy is, he’s a massive jerk! However, from the first few chapters it’s clear there is this secret that you don’t know and it’s hinted at so many times, it gets so frustrating because you just want to know what it is. But this secret is the reason why Jake hates Amalie so much at first.

Amalie, however, is a complete queen who stands up for herself and soon realised it’s not her Jake has a problem with and all she needs to do is push him to break down his walls and meet the real him. I loved her character! The only downside was maybe her parents death. I do feel this part of the plot was underdeveloped, I never felt overly upset, it just seemed like a reason for her to move to the US. The same with the relationship with her Grandmother, I feel that could have better developed too!

This book was well written, with good emotive language that really drags you into the story. Some of the things Jake said made my heart ache for Amalie but he more than made up for it in the end when you realise he just needs to be loved! A great enemies to more bully romance!

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This was not the bully romance for me. I am OBSESSED with this trope, but this one totally missed the mark. For me to enjoy a bully romances a few things need to happen.

1. There has to be a BELIEVABLE reason for the conflict between the MCs. Unfortunately, in this book, I found the hero's reasoning for not liking the FMC severely lacking. *SPOILER* He literally only hates her because she reminds him of his mom... THIS GIRL DID NOTHING WRONG.

2. The MCs need to be mature. It's high school. I know, I know. Not every high schooler is mature, but in order for me to enjoy reading about them, they need to be mature. I can't do the immaturity, it drives me up a wall. I found a lot of the hero's responses to be immature and it seriously bugged me.

3. Proper timing/groveling. The timeline needs to make sense. By that I mean the hero has to slowly realize he f'ed up and the heroine needs to make him grovel. Otherwise this dude literally gets to just shit on her, make her life miserable, and then she welcomes him with open arms??? NAH. GET MAD SIS. I sure as heck am lol.

Also wasn't really into the whole slut slaming going on. I disliked BOTH of the main characters. There was nothing redeeming about the hero even after he started being "nice" to the heroine. And the heroine was a straight up doormat. Like girly make this man work for you!! He's been a complete ass and you're just like

This is a author ARC review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

Generally, I’m not a reader of the high school romance genre. But, when Tracy Lorraine sent me the ARC of Thorn, I’ll admit I was intrigued by the blurb. This is book 1 of her new series Rosewood High.

Amelie and Jake’s separate storylines are tumultuous and drive the plot without pause. It’s a quick ride with turbulence. These characters are flawed in their histories.

Their separate friendships with their peer groups are expected teenage relationships with some real adult issues.

This was my first book by Tracy Lorraine but in now hooked and can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

This is my first book by this author. So I went into this open-minded, not sure what to expect, and I was pleasantly surprised. Lately, there has been so much hype around bully romances, and I too have fallen victim to this craze. It's a guilty pleasure now and I can't seem to get enough.

I am all for the feels. Angst... Give me angst. I think that's what firstly grabbed at me when it came to this sub-genre and this book had me completely hooked from page one, grabbing hold of my emotions, my heartstrings and pulling as tightly as it possibly can, and for me... I freaking love when a book can do that.

Well, Thorn was just as amazing as I anticipated if anything... The author delivered something a little more than I expected.

Jake Thorn is the man, the top footy baller on his team that everyone wants, or wants to be. he's sexy, cocky and has a bad boy rep, but what you see isn't always what you get. Jake is broken, he's full of torment by events that happened in his past. Things that crush his soul... but he is doing everything in his power to move on from these events but when he comes into an encounter with a new girl. All his past, all that pain, and torment comes bubbling back up and reminds him everything he's lost. So the hate and pain surfaces and all that is bubbling over, all the hatred is direct at this new girl... and she becomes his target.

After losing her parents, Amelie hasn't got any other choice than to move from London and come to America and start a new life. She goes and lives with her Gran. As she struggles to get over the loss of losing her parents, she hopes to blend in at her new school. It's one thing going to a new school in a new country, but doing it while she suffers from the losses.

Things started off great, but that all started to change when she met Jake. He was out to get her from the moment they locked eyes, and he was ruthless at doing so. She became his target practice and he becomes her worst nightmare and puts her through hell...

But while this is all happening, there is something there between them. They both are attracted to one another, as messed up as that sounds and if Jake would stop and see the girl for who she really is, he may actually realize they are meant to be. But will he open his eyes? Or will it be too late? The chemistry and that overall push and pull, between the two, had me biting my nails and flipping pages.

This book captivated me, hooked me in from the start and had me hanging off every word. I don't often go YA, but if I am going to, it's always a bully romance and this author weaved her words together and created one so full of angst, pain, sorrow, and scenes that left me completely speechless.

This won't be my last read by Ms. Lorranie. I'm eager to see what else she has up her sleeve and to see where she goes with this new series!

5 Stars!

"Jake Thorn might be a bastard, but he's a bloody beautiful one at that."

YA bully romances can be a hit or miss for me. Thorn definitely falls in the hit column!

If you enjoy a good hate-to-love, bully romance with some good push-and-pull then look no further. These two broken characters will captivate you and you'll be hooked from the start. I certainly was!

After a tragic loss, Amalie moves to America from London to live with her Gran. She just wants to blend in and keep her head down until she can graduate. Will that happen? Of course not, especially when Jake takes one look at her and decides he's going to make her life hell and run her out of town.

Jake is the typical king of the school and the town. He does whatever he wants, when he wants. He doesn't care who he hurts along the way and doesn't shy away from breaking the rules. Don't get me wrong I hated Jake at first but the more we learned about why he is the way he is, the more I understood him and started to fall for the broken boy. As the story progresses his anger issues and pent up frustration become completely understandable.

Tracy Lorraine really delivers with this one. This was my first book by her and I know it won't be my last. Paine will be Book 2 in the Rosewood High series that will follow Camila and Mason and I can't wait. I need to know so much about their relationship or lack thereof.

"I might want to hurt her, but I'll be fucked if I'm letting anything else happen to her."

(I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.)

I don’t even have anything eloquent to write. It’s just not good, like, at all.
