I was happily surprised with how much I enjoyed this book, especially considering how skeptical I was going into it. The FMC was so closed off and mysterious in the original duology that I didn't really like her all that much, so I thought the character development for her in this story was really well done. The plot wasn't the absolute best, but the "epic romance" saved the day.

This was a cute offshoot story from the main duology! I enjoyed the growth from the FMC, although some of the pressure from others about the love interest was a bit questionable for me at first. Once that initial pressure lays off and they’re able to interact organically, it is a cute lil romance. The plot twist on the island they land on is interesting and opens up more possibilities for additional side stories.

Really enjoyed this book and it was a relatively quick read. I love Tricia Levenseller's writing style, it always makes for an easy read. This book was nothing mind-blowing but enjoyable nonetheless.
