I loved being back in this world.
Such an easy read, where you get sucked in from the first few chapters.

Agreed it isn't Alosa, but Sorinda does grow on you.
The plot was not the strongest, but I liked it.

The romance is there, but not in your face.
It is very slow and there is no tension. But it doens't really need it.
A story about a girl, who learns to conquer her own past.

It has great meaning behind it, and it was entertaining.

Sorinda isn’t used to being in charge, and she doesn’t want to be in charge, but when Alossa tasks her with the rescue of some missing girls, Sorinda has no choice. She accepts the ship and crew Alossa gives her and sails out, resigning herself to Kearan’s close presence as Alossa’s best helmsman. Kearan has the unnerving tendency to see her and understand her, and for a pirate that specializes in assassination, Sorinda isn’t used to being seen. It doesn’t help that Enwyn keeps talking about their blooming ‘epic romance’, but as they travel through unknown waters and face unknown monsters, Sorinda begins to realize that Kearan isn’t the same man who she first met on Alossa’s ship.

I really enjoyed the first two Pirate Queen books, and I was delighted to have this continuation of the story following Sorinda instead of Alossa. Sorinda was an intriguing character in the first two books, so spending more time in her mind was just delightful--especially when you consider Kearan’s crush began way back in book 1. I liked seeing how Sorinda, this assassin, has to step into the light and take charge, responsible for more people than herself and feeling the weight of that responsibility. I also liked how respectful Kearan was of Sorinda’s needs, not overstepping and being what she needed him to be WHEN she needed him. It was a very slow, cute burn, especially since it took so long for Sorinda to register what he was doing. I highly enjoyed this book and the duology that came before!
