Didn’t think I would like this one to be honest because of how little we knew of Sorinda and I was initially right. The story picked up because of the character growth and the relationships built. Roslyn and Kearan really strengthened the story.

Ended up enjoying it way more than expected, but major points docked for the abhorrently obvious stealing of “can control the undead and the zombies get bright blue eyes” from the Night King in Game of Thrones. Too similar for me.

I loved going back into this universe. The first two book about the Queen were great and knowing more about the members of her crew was just as good.

Sorinda is truly a great character. I loved Kearan through the whole story, his willingness to see beyond the facade and dig deeper. His genuine understanding of how old wounds heal and him wanting to love all of someone, not only the beautiful parts but the wounded and hurting parts too touched me so much.
