Levenseller is so hit or miss for me. I read Daughter of the Pirate King in one day and yet this book took me nearly 2 months to finish. While I really enjoyed the first half of the book (while they're at sea), I really bored of the second half.
While I very much enjoyed Sorinda, Roslyn, Kearan and others, I thought Threydan was kinda lame. I never understood his motivations and he was too talky to really be a believable bad guy. I also think this book does a lot of telling instead of showing.

I think this is my favorite book of the three in the series. It was a pirate adventure, not much in terms of spice or romance, but aspects of the adventure portion were unlike any other books i've read, which was refreshing.

Honestly pirate adventure books is a weakness of mine so I enjoyed this quite a bit. I'd say the story, character work, and world building was fine but not anything particularly special. A good story but probably not one that'll stick with me in the long term. But somehow it's softened my heart anyway.
