Reading Carol while listening to Janis Ian and experiencing such potent Sapphic melancholy that my nose start to bleed

i liked this book a lot. hard to read at times, it’s VERY literary. but i love a lesbian book with a happy ending. the movie is killer too.

Oddly paced, in that it takes two thirds of the book to actually get somewhere, both literally and figuratively, and then all resolves far too fast at that stage.

Very neurotic and unstable at times. Incredibly grounded in humanity at others. It was a whirlwind of a love story with its bitterness and its sweetness. Highsmith’s poetic finesse was a highlight, and the strength in the novel comes from how much one’s own feelings and experiences can commingle seamlessly with that of the cast of characters.

I hate to say it but this honestly bored me
