Another stunning novel by Highsmith, even though due to the subject matter at the time it had to be written under a pseudonym.
Considering the time and the style of this book, I really like it.
It is an enjoyable flow of feelings mixed with everyday impressions (almost physical ones), that yet has something to say.
The setting, the surrounding society, is, incredibly, just background noise, compared to the great love the main character has for Carol and even the other characters (because there are a lot of characters in this book, a lot of male characters, unexpectedly) are just shadows in the mind of the main character.
A great day-to-day love story that could only exist in this particular time and set, otherwise it would be boring.
