Interesting to read the first lesbian romance book that isn't a tragedy, but wasn't 100% my cup of tea. Well written tho!

I listened to this audiobook for one of my classes and I thought it was a lovely story. I can see how important this piece was back when it was originally published under The Price of Salt. I am interested in seeing the movie adaptation and how it compares!

Theoretically my favorite quote from this book should be something regarding yearning, lust, or love, but it's actually about milk: "the milk seemed to taste of bone and blood, of warm flesh, or hair, saltless as chalk yet alive as a growing embryo."

This is only the second time that I've felt the movie is better than the book, the other being jaws.
I did enjoy the road trip parts of the book, mainly because I enjoy road trips in general. The main thing I had trouble with is the two main characters. I felt both were pretty unlikable in different ways.
