I absolutely love this book. I read it as a child and reread it now that I'm 23. It's beautifully written with such a unique story. Amazing.

Had this book for while since I was a kid. I probably would've gotten confused by its meta-ness if I had read it back then. Overall, it's clever, short, and sweet.

This is a really original idea, and very well written. I finished it in a couple of hours, and enjoyed it immensely! The characters are lots of fun and I like the writing style. The plot moves along, and the whole concept is just fascinating. Wonderful book!

May I just say this is one of the most amazing yet traumatizing books I have ever read. It has been years since I have read this book yet the idea of characters rusting away in my brain scares me. For a while after reading "The Great Good Thing", I tried to remember every single character from everything I ever read or watched just to keep them whole in my brain. ( I was maybe 8 when I first read it.) It is still just as inspiring and amazing the second, third, fourth... time around.

Adorable story! The Great Good Thing is so lively and the plot clips along so easily and the characters are enchanting. A very sweet story about storybook characters and how they live outside of a story or when the book is closed. It’s a perfect little book to read aloud to a class full of kids!

Nice concept, boring delivery. Perhaps a younger child might enjoy it more.

A bit like Jasper Fforde's "Thursday Next," Terry Pratchett's "Small Gods," and the movies "Stranger than Fiction" and "Inside Out" all wrapped up into a fairy tale. Got all that?
