Quite The Novel Idea ~ Words From The Clouds

I am all confuzzled right now. Yes, this book is beautiful and magical and epic and all that. But to me personally it was also... eh? Maybe I read this at the wrong time because I'd been feeling down and such so I couldn't fully enjoy it? I don't know, but I just feel kind of a bit indifferent?? Like, I did love Lazlo as an MC and such, but I didn't care much for the other characters? And the romance felt very... insta-love? BUT the writing was gorgeoud of course. And the story in and of itself was magical.

IDK what to say, honestly. I'm torn. Longer review maybe to come? For now I'll keep it at this and a 3 star rating. Someone give me a new brain. Clearly mine is napping somewhere in Hawai.

HEY YALL LOOK WHO I MET

i like the british cover more than ours, but that's not the important thing. what is important is:

I was so absolutely certain I'll love this... The writing is perfection, I do agree on that, sadly that's the only point in favour of this book. Beyond the writing I've found it boring, depressing, long winded and predictable.

Never read anything like it. Beginning is slow, but it’s so beautifully written.

Wow this book took me a super long time to read. Granted, I moved in & started school while reading it and it's also a huge!
Half-way through this book, I thought I was for sure giving it five stars. My favorite part about this was the mystery! I LOVE when fantasy meets mystery. I was still guessing what was going to happen by the end of it. I also love the different viewpoints, although I felt like there were too many. I loved the viewpoints of the two main characters, but the other ones felt very pointless to the story.
The biggest negative I have with this book is that it. Is. So. Drawn. Out. This could have been 300 pages. I know some authors tend to write really slow plots but the middle part of the book was so hard to get through. Nothing really happened that was very interesting so it felt very boring. I found myself loving it, hating it, and then loving it again. What a roller coaster.
I know some people that picked this up, read a couple chapters and DNF it. PLZ get through the first few chapters! Yes, the writing is extremely confusing but it all makes sense in the end.
Although I was still guessing until the end, I figured out the "plot twist" in the beginning of the book. This was surprising because this never happens to me! I never guess right or really ever at all. It was set up so obviously to me, but other people didn't realize so I guess I'm just weird. It might have been better for me if I hadn't realized what it was going to be :(
Other than that! I really enjoyed this.

Soft 5. I don't normally read a lot of YA, but this book did not read like one. It definitely had a lot of strong vocabulary. The world was gorgeous, imaginative, and lush.
The only thing I didn't like was the fact that I figured out the twist early on, and I'm not sure if I was supposed to or if it was supposed to be a big reveal. That and the insta-love. It wasn't enough to knock any stars off though because overall I loved it. Looking forward to part 2.
