Story 2 stars
Narration 3 stars
My first book by this author and I had several issues with it. I don't normally read HS age but decided to try. Way too much angst, lots of repetition. And the bullying as a love language just about made me crush my phone.

can’t get enough of this series!!

I’ve been waiting for Toby’s story ever since getting a glimpse of him in the previous books. I wanted to know more about this young man and what his story was.

I absolutely adored this book. Getting to know Toby and Vann was something special. They growing pains they both had the go through to figure out who they are and who they wanted to be had my heart hurting for them. Two young misunderstood individuals just wanting to find their place in the world and ultimately coming together to find the love they both deserve.

This series is truly remarkable and I have loved every second of getting to know these characters and to read about their stories

Sooo much better than the last one. The last book felt like a rush job needed for a deadline. This book actually feels thought out and better fleshed out story. I knew you had it in you Daryl!!

I’m also more and more convinced that Southern Hospitality isn’t real and the South is the most unfriendly place to live in the world.

A little too long

Rebel at Spruce High, book 5 in Daryl Banner's Spruce TX series is considerably longer than some of the earlier books in the series and so worth it! Toby has been an outcast since at least middle school and just wants to get through senior year. Vann, meanwhile, doesn't trust anyone and has a mean streak a mile wide to keep people away, but not far below the surface is a sensitive guy just wanting to connect. When Vann decides to defend Toby things get complicated quickly, but powerfully. Banner's writing is fun, thoughtful, sexy, and down-to-earth. It's easy to fall in love with Spruce, TX, and all the men who are looking for love there. I listened to the audio book twice via hoopla/my public library, fabulous acted by Chris Chambers and Cooper North.

I absolutely love this series, and while the story wasn't necessarily my favorite , I was really happy to see a new installment. Another heartwarming, sexy edition to the Spruce series. I hope to see Hoyt in his own book!
