Just read the first two and skim through this one.
You'll thank me.

I think it was too short??? I kind of struggled with the previous books because I felt like they were too long, but this just kind of... didn't have a middle??? It just had a beginning and all of a sudden they were fighting Saraj????

But this was the easiest one to read by far, and I really enjoyed meeting another Folders in depth. I'd like to read a fourth book, with the politics for unbonding and bonding again, and how Emery and Ceony are doing. I learnt not to mind the age gap at all in this one, and I don't know if it's because I'm totally okay with this or because I have come to a point where I just ignore it.

The magic is so pretty and if that's the only reason you have to read this trilogy please do!!!!

Compared to the other books, especially The Glass Magician, I felt like The Master Magician was missing something. Everything happened as it was suppose to happen, and the trilogy ended well. For me, however, it felt like a very dry journey. It didn't feel as whimsical and some of the humor was missing. I'm really glad that this isn't a long series. I think that I'd get tired of it quickly. It's a nice short read, but I just didn't really feel like this held up to the Glass Magician. I expected a bigger finale.

I’m not sorry that I read this trilogy. I absolutely was engaged in the magical world and found it quite fascinating and immersive.

However, Ceony was a frustrating protagonist. Again, she is stymied by the historical setting
this book takes place in, but her absolute obstinance in thinking that she alone had to do something about the bad guy was frustrating. Equally frustrating was everyone else not working with Ceony or placating her under the guise she needed protection because she was a woman and/or was incompetent because she was only an apprentice.

Regardless, I enjoyed the tame sweet romance between Ceony and Emery (what little there was of it), and the finale was quite good. Again, a flawed heroine, but the magical embellishments surrounding her kept this nicely afloat.

I like that we get to see more magic and a variety of magic in this one. I hope she is allowed to learn all of the magic in the 4th one.

Loved the magic, particularly the creativeness of the paper origami.

Didn't love that she was younger than 20 and in love with her teacher who was 30+ and they are married with kids by the second series. Felt even weirder that the narrator was a super young voice.

The magic just keeps getting better! What Ceony learned in the first two books is put to use in more ways than one might anticipate; she is truly a talented Folder apprentice...and then some. Here's hoping that the story doesn't end with this book.

The narrator’s accent for Saraj was so bad. The rest was good
