Oh boy Sikthand... this man is absolute *chefs kiss* he is a big scary king who suspects everyone of ulterior motives and treachery (with good reason) but with Sophia he is absolutely a cinnamon roll on the inside. This is absolutely my favorite book in the series! It's absolutely heartbreaking how Sikthand has lived his life but Sophia comes along and shakes everything up and shows him he can actually trust someone to be close to him. I could have literally read 400 more pages in this book and it still wouldn't have been enough Sikthand and Sophia.

Enjoyed all books in this series up until now. This one is problematic in many ways. I found MMC to be verbally abusive and, on one occasion, physically abusive. He has a 2 way mirror between his room and hers and constantly spies on her. So creepy with the peeping Tom vibe. The intentional flirting with other women in front of MFC just adds to all the reasons I don't like this guy. He is a Walking red flag. We're meant to feel sorry for him because of his sad back story but that doesn't cut it. In a romance, I don't want to hate the hero. Didn't abandon it but definitely skimmed. Sorry, cannot recommend.
