I’m so conflicted on how to rate this book because, on one hand, it was a really moving and symbolic story. But on the other, it was wildly unbelievable.
So the good first: I thought the writing was effective in the goal of showcasing the innocence of children indoctrinated into an ideology. Yes - the writing absolutely seemed like the children should have been much younger than 9 and 12, but effective nonetheless. Also the story itself was compelling.
As for the bad…. well many other reviewers have pointed out the obvious, which is that this story just literally never would have happened due to the plethora of inaccuracies with the technical details. While I do think that more historically accurate stories are more valuable to the genre, I don’t think that there isn’t a place for this.

The book is better than the show, but it needs more...I wanted it to be like 20 chapters longer!!!

مامان گفت تلخه، مطمئن باش و بعد بخونش.
گفتم من تلخی رو تحمل می‌کنم.
تو تمام طول کتاب، می‌گفتم که خب غم‌انگیزه، اما نه در حد هشدار.
فقط یک صفحه کافی بود تا حرفم رو پس بگیرم، شایدم یه پاراگراف. کافی بود تا نفسم یهو بند بیاد و فقط توی سرم داد بزنم "نه، نه، نه، نه، نه!" و از همه‌چیز دردناک‌تر اینه که حتی دیگرانی که نمی‌فهمن تو با شخصیتای کتابا زندگی می‌کنی هم نمی‌تونن با گفتن "بی‌خیال، داستانه دیگه" از تلخی داستان کم کنن. چون فقط داستان نیست. چون خود حقیقت کثیفیه که کسی نمی‌تونه ازش فرار کنه.
اون جمله آخر آخر که گفت "البته این ماجرا مدت‌ها پیش اتفاق افتاده است و رویدادی این‌چنین هرگز دوباره نمی‌تواند رخ دهد"، من رو به خنده انداخت. یاد بوسنی افتادم، یاد هرزگوین.
