This is a child's view of the holocaust and keeps the more gruesome truths in the background. People here are bashing it for this reason but I believe that it serves its purpose as a children's book and as a gentle introduction to the darkest period of recent history.

This was my first time reading this after Iā€™d seen the movie multiple times. I always love books written from childrenā€™s perspectives because they bring this level of innocence and simplicity that I love. I wasnā€™t entirely satisfied with the ending - it felt a little rushed, but then again it was chaotic and horrific in a way that was true to real life events.
