Having read Sophie's World at exactly the right time in my life, I was afraid this book would have a tough act to follow. But, happily, it makes an ideal companion book. It's Sophie's World's younger, sweeter, more entertaining little brother. Many of the same philosophical themes are there - particularly what simply boils down to "appreciate this wondrous world and your place in it!" - but instead of being an actual course in philosophy, there's a magical little story here.

This book is so damn good. Filsuf direpresentasikan dengan para joker dalam setumpuk kartu. Kita hidup namun tidak benar-benar terjaga. In short, they are normieeeesss. adi kenapa Joker sering tidak digunakan dalam permainan kartu remi? Karena ia tidak termasuk dalam 4 keluarga dan tidak memiliki peran, apalagi selalu mempertanyakan eksistensinya. That's Noyce. Really Noyce, Jostein.

Beautiful. Magical. It was a journey to a world that almost seemed too real despite how unreal everything was. The writer must be a genius for knowing how to make philosophical thoughts into a quest for the unknown, to understand one’s self and one’s surroundings, one has to know one’s past first.

I read this after "Sophie's World" and was slightly less impressed. Don't regret the time I spent reading it though.

I've read "Sophie's World" and found it a lovely book to get you into philosophy and all that. This one though is a bit more subtle in all the philosophy it has, yet it does talk about philosophy. I do hate to repeat things said about a book, but this is definitively an "Alice in Wonderland" kind of book meant for adults or young people that want to do a little thinking and not just zone out when reading (but it is not the tedious kind of thinking, but the very engaging kind).
I kept wanting to dog ear the pages (the book is from the library so I had to resist the temptation) or underline phrases (things I don't usually DO with my books!), and lots of bits stuck to me and are still there in my mind.
Very recommendable :)
