Typical MHC mystery. I enjoy her books but they are very formulaic. A breezy read.

I would have given this book four stars, but I really didn't like how quickly it was all wrapped up. The storyline was great and very suspenseful with multiple smaller story lines tying into the larger story and then suddenly it was like "Then this happened and that happened and then this was said and then a bit later everyone was this. The end" It seemed like suddenly they reached the page quota and tried to end the entire story in a chapter. Up until that point though, I really enjoyed it!

One of the best books I've read in a while! Keeps you constantly wondering "who dunnit?"

Child kidnapped. Father guilty. Motivation not really convincing. Not believable.

Not her most interesting. I had some trouble keeping interested. I usually devour here books in a day or two but this one took me a few stops and starts. Still, I did enjoy it. I also really liked the section in the back where she shared her inspirations for past books.

I think the “villain” reveal didn’t we’ll match the previous information on him, but a good read none the less.

I got the first chapter (or two?) of this book randomly sent to me as a preview. Of course after reading a little I was curious enough to need to find out how the story ends.

Here's the thing. Obviously this author is a genius. This story starts great. Zan the main character is absolutely compelling but at the same time the author plants just enough to doubt at certain points to make you doubt her (even though the story is told from her point of view). The story builds, there's mystery and anticipation and drama. And then, pffffttttttttt, much like the air flying out of a balloon, it's just over and done.

I think if there had been another two or three chapters this could have been a four star book.
