The incredible thing about this book/speech is that it changes completely from when you read it as a speech to when it is read as a speech by a man who has killed himself. In the former reading, the story is almost uplifting, inspiring the 'I think I can' attitude within the reader. When read as the latter, it opens up so many different avenues of thought, but is much more depressing. This is a man who saw the light at the end of the tunnel, but was unwilling to take the trip to get to the end. Either way you read it, it is still terribly affecting and inspiring. This is something that anybody who wishes to be enlightened should read.
