Whimsical classic winter read. Quick and easy, love the imagery and writing style.

I had never read The Snow Queen before, and was worried after having read The Fir Tree that it would be as bleak and unsettling. This is more of a true tale, though, and a much more ambitious undertaking for the illustrator Sanna Annukka, who did an amazing job. I love having the rare book like this that is simply a work of art.

I had forgotten how depressing Hans Christian Andersen fairy tales are (in comparison to the grim Grimm Brothers stories). Also, the narrator had particularly grating voice :\

Overall I liked the illustrations EXCEPT for the first one (my 7 year old & I were aligned on that)

Heard more from flowers than we did the titular character.

Read this for the Roonil Wazlibs book club. It was a typical fair tale and I liked it however the ending seemed too quick. What happens with the Snow Queen?

Eh, this tale didn't age very well. But it's a great fairy tale to launch other stories from.

I read this as part of a Disney origin book club, and was surprised to realize that I hadn’t ever read it before! I enjoyed the stories more then I thought I would and think I really would have liked them as a child. I liked the symbolism and the lessons learned.
