My first 5 star book of the year and I loved it so much that I’m immediately reading it again. I wouldn’t say I love the writing so much as the messaging. “Feeling uncomfortable is a signal that you’re on the precipice of something new and better. But you must take action.”

I wouldn't recommend listening to the audiobook. Probably better when you can read in thoughtful chunks rather than bingeing. Just sounds like a long list of pop psych.

This is a good book to read in your 20s!

2.5 stars rounded up.
There were a few quotes in this book that resonated with me strongly, but overall it’s more so a bunch of buzzfeed style list articles than essays, and opinions that are not backed up by cited sources, and I didn’t enjoy most of my time with the book. Just not the right fit for me.

THIS is why I don't read self-help books. Books like these are the reason. It felt like when you look up one thing like "how to get over a breakup" or "how to not feel like shit after losing your job" or whatever and you get these inspirational lists of suggestions, Instagram read-caption reels, or long rants on Youtube or even just a rabbit hole dive in blog posts and I would NEVER call them "essays". This book was essentially a compilation of blog posts. I didn't feel "helped". I felt drained and exhausted and honestly the "essays" felt superficial. Like it was more of a brain dump of the author, an attempt to inspire an audience with clever and redundant phrases. Please don't call these essays. When someone says essays, I want C.S. Lewis's Abolition of Man style essays. Those are inspirational. Actually moving. Actually something that will change the way one thinks. Congratulations to the author, you managed to be the first book on my dnf list here on Goodreads.

Many of these essays are brilliant and indeed mind-changing. But there are 101 of them and by simply reading them back to back you don't truly comprehend the content... it has a high information density which makes it kind of overwhelming to read. Unless you think about each essay for quite some time the book isn't that great, if that makes sense
