Had to return and was so dense. Really interesting but would have taken me months to get through
Even though it took me absolutely forever to get through this one (I read it on audiobook), I definitely think it's worth a read--my dad recommended it to me, and it holds up. I love reading about Oppenheimer as an overpowered character. Some of the parts on politics were a little boring and I quit listening to it for weeks on end, but at least I did eventually get through it.

Outstanding bio. Lots of detail on his personal life and travails. It is a must read.

If you’re causally interested in learning about what’s up with this Oppenheimer guy, this may not be the book for you. Bird and Sherwin do a good job transporting the reader to Oppenheimer’s life and times, but often they get lost in the weeds trying to provide THE definitive text on his left wing past and subsequent McCarthy era downfall.
If you’re a Los Alamos Fan and have done some reading on the subject, this book will fill in a lot of those gaps. But again, get ready for a lot of names and a lot of perspectives on minute details of his security clearance case.
