This audiobook had a slow start and took me a few tries to get into. But once I did I found it really informative and relevant to our current political climate.

this was almost 27 hours long and i was never bored. what a feat for a work of nonfiction! i can see why they turned this into a movie.
incredible work describing one of the most important men of the twentieth century. it took decades of research and it really shows.
does a great job at showing the good and the bad – in the end, he sold out his convictions (and his friends) for political comfort, which didn’t even last. definitely a lot here which can apply to the current u.s. political climate!

Known as the father of the atomic bomb, J. Robert Oppenheimer was a brilliant scientist, family man, and conflicted public figure (was he a Communist?). Kai Bird’s Pulitzer winning biography is an absorbing, eye opening, behind the scenes look into the life and times of the man who literally changed the landscape of modern warfare and the chess game that is global politics. One of the best biographies I have ever read.-Amy O.-
Now I have a hyper fixation on McCarthyism, thanks to this book!
