Each of us carries the map of our lives on our skin, in the way we walk, even in the way we grow.

This book follows Isabella, a cartographer's daughter on her journey to save her island, Joya. It was an easy, lovely read, but I was quite surprised at the heavy topics it touched on too, such as death and illness. Thus, having a sad undertone, but I still enjoyed it nontheless.

The story takes place in a mythical world, but quite similar to ours, with names such as Amrica and Chine, which I found quite humourous. The writing was lovely and flowing, and I finished this in about 4 hours!

I didn't find as much time as to connect with the characters more, since the book was quite short, but I still liked the characters.

Overall, a good read! Would recommend if you'd like a short fantastical read that would not leave you disappointed.

I love Kiran Millwood Hargrave's style of magical realism. However, I listened to this as an audio book and didn't love it as much as I did reading "The Island at the End of Everything". I think her writing needs to be seen on the page and savoured, rolled on the tongue, allowed to sit and swell through you.

I couldn't get into the writing style. I was overall, struggling to get into it and understand what was happening

I really enjoyed this book. Isabella, the cartographer’s daughter is a brilliant character. She is fiesty and adventurous but she also feels anxious quite a lot too. She has to keep her friendship with the Governers daughter a secret because he wouldn't approve.

This book won the Waterstones children's book prize in 2017 but I also think it is a great book for young adults and adults alike.

Such great scenes that have you gripped and on the edge of your seat. You really feel emersed in the situations throughout the book and it's really exciting.

I highly recommend this book for young adults and adults.

I did really enjoy this, I do however wish we got more backstory. It feels like the lore of this world runs so deep and we’ve only been shown the surface level things you’d need to know to get through this book alone.

However, enjoyable, fairly quick read.
