This was my first Stephanie Archer book and it definitely wonât be my last. I absolutely adored Georgia and Alexei. This might be the cutest marriage of convenience trope Iâve ever read.
I also love that the series is set in my hometown. It made the whole story feel more real to me. Georgia was hilarious, relatable, and so unapologetically herself. I love a heroine who owns her sass and rocks high heels like a boss. And Alexei? The perfect amount of grumpy. I loved watching him slowly and reluctantly fall for Georgia. The slow burn was truly slow burning, and their chemistry was out of this world. I was giggling and kicking my feet the whole time.
Iâve never been more confident in a five-star rating. This book 1000% deserves all the stars, and I canât wait to dive into the rest of the series.

I often get bored with contemporary romances but this had me locked. in. I truly devoured the entire book and nothing could stop me. As a fellow Canadian, the references of home ⌠hit close to home; so I thoroughly enjoyed those moments.
The initial toxic dynamic between Alexei and Georgia was addicting because the banter was so witty and they truly aimed for the low blows; I giggled and twiddled my feet because I LOVE when women are mean to men. These MCâs loathed each other. This was a true enemies to lovers, emphasis on the enemies. Both MCâs begin with these predisposed ideas of each other but later learn they were terribly misguided in their judgements. Alexei is this brooding, grumpy hockey player who only has one goal in life, to play hockey. Georgia is this bad a** doctor who has side passions that she is reasonably protective over. While entering a fake marriage for their own individual benefits, they both have to work through their past experiences and inevitably become the ultimate âmy wifeâ and âmy husbandâ duo.
When I say I had FUN reading this book, I mean it. My final thoughts to conclude is that my obsession with men being proved wrong was heavily re-enforced (My bf does not appreciate you for this, Stephanie). Alexeiâs mom is a girls girl through and through and I love her. Seeing each MC get healthy and supportive in-laws was ⌠healing to say the least.
Tropes;
â˘Enemies to lovers
â˘Fake marriage / marriage of convenience
⢠One bed
⢠Hidden meanings
⢠New found purpose
⢠Sacrifice

Stephanie Archer can do no wrong in my book, and is absolutely my favorite romcom author. Gloves Off was another excellent installment in her Vancouver Storm series.
In some ways, due to their misconceptions about one another, I think Alexei and Georgia had a rougher road than some of the others. But the intensity of the both of them made for superb tension.
Loved the secondary characters (I called the revelation at the end) and a thruline about the language of flowers (adore the constant juxtaposition of this giant of a man with flowers).
As with any of Stephanieâs novels, consistently laugh out loud funny and well written spice that isnât just for the sake of smut.
Easy âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸âď¸
-enemies? To lovers
-hockey romance
-marriage of convenience
-thin line between love and hate
-language of flowers

I am an absolute sucker for every dang book @stephaniearcherauthor writes and this one might just be my favorite!
The banter, the tension, the hate! Gahhh I loved every freaking second of it! I think this is the first dislike to lovers that gave me the same feelings as The Hating Game and was everything I didnât know I needed!
I LOVE a marriage of convenience and when the two canât stand each other?! *chefs kiss*
Alexei is a hockey player who needs to get married to help deal with concerns about his immigration status, and Georgia is an incredible doctor who needs access to her trust in order to fund a rehab program! So of course, why not get married and help each other out?
The fact that they hate each other shouldnât matter, right?
But you know what they say, thereâs a fine line between hate and love đ
These two are like fire and ice and oh how they BURN!

Loved this book. A fantastic hate to love story. The teasing back and forth was so fun. And when they finally give in...so hot.
