GENTE ENTENDO TOTALMENTE A CATHY EU MESMA CHEGUEI A AMAR O HEATHCLIFF E TORCER PELA VINGANÇA DELE COM OS QUE O ATORMENTAVAM MAS QUANDO ELE COMEÇOU A SE VINGAR E A SER A PIOR PESSOA EXISTENTE NA FACE DA TERRA EU JURO QUE SUCUMBI E ADOECI DA MESMA FORMA QUE A CATHERINE!!!!!!!
Eu entrei tanto no livro que realmente acho que tô meio doente
Gostei MUITO MUITO MUITO MUITO MUITO MUITO MUITO!!!! Não fui com expectativas tão altas porque já vi tanta resenha negativa e gente falando mal desse livro que nem tava esperando muito o que foi ótimo porque assim não existe frustração e sim uma supresa mais que agradável em descobrir que é um ótimo livro.
A escrita da autora é SENSACIONAL e te prende do começo ao fim, a narração da Ellen - que para mim é a melhor personagem desse livro - instiga o leitor a cada instante. Faz a gente torcer pelo bem e pelo mal, pelo amor entre Catherine e Heathcliff e a separação. Para que Edgar quebre a cara, para que em seguida ele nos conquiste com sua sutileza na forma de governar a Granja dos Tordos. Faz nos apaixonar por Isabella, acreditar em fantasmas e demônios no corpo de um homem. Entrega aos poucos uma história que é tudo ao mesmo tempo, mistério, suspense, DRAMA, e quase romance.
Sério é MUITA informação e muita coisa pra falar e eu estou em êxtase e com uma dor de cabeça terrível pós leitura que livro sensacional estou em choque real.
Algumas observações:
Acho interessantíssimo como no começo você fica do lado do Heathcliff e torce por ele, para do meio pro final você odiar e torcer para que a vingança dos personagens que ele atormenta.
A Catherine Earnshow na primeira parte do livro apesar de ser completamente maluca também era uma das pessoas que eu mais torcia.
Na mesma fase mais ou menos, estava muito apegada a Isabela.
Da metade pro final torci muito pela Cathy Linton e pelo Hareton.
Sobre o Hareton, a relação que ele nutre pelo Heathcliff é uma das que achei mais interessantes.

If Nelly and Heathcliff were brought back to the present day, Nelly would’ve embraced the hustle culture with open arms, and Heathcliff would’ve, undoubtedly, joined in the alpha-male toxic-masculinity circle.

Okay, so I’ve finally read this book, I’m proud of myself! The first time I tried to read it I quit after the first 20 pages because I couldn’t get into the story and found the writing quite challenging. As a non native English speaker I was not accustomed to 19th century English and found myself having to reach for the dictionary multiples types per page because I wasn’t familiar with much of the vocabulary. Adding to that the fact that I got super confused with the “who’s who”(because everyone has the same freaking names) and that I just couldn’t decipher Joseph’s unintelligible interventions, I thought this book was too much for me and gave up.
Since then, the book has been staring at me with judgmental eyes because I’m one of those people who hates not finishing book, even when I’m not enjoying them. So I decided this was the time to gather up the courage and give it another go. And I’m so glad I did! It turns out that, the first time, I had given up just a few pages before the story gets interesting! So, if you’re also having trouble getting into the story, just push through it because it is worth it in the end.
I must confess that I was firstly introduced to Wuthering Heigths may years ago, as a teenager, while reading the Twilight saga. This was Bella’s favourite book and she always described it as the ultimate love story so I was expecting this book to be an epic romance. It is NOT! It’s an epic tragedy, full of hatred and vengefulness and not much love. I really don’t understand those who call this a love story and I hope that they’re not searching for a ‘love’ like this in real life because this is not what Love is supposed to be. Love is not supposed to be so selfish, possessive, violent and obsessive as it is portrayed in this book. The relationship between Catherine and Heathcliff is so disturbed, and they have such twisted personalities, that their journey is bound to be a tumultuous and tragic one. And, of course, they had to pull everyone down with them.
This was the first book I read that featured, almost exclusively, horrible characters. They’re the most unlikable, despicable group of people you can imagine and I found that fascinating (albeit depressing), especially in a book written almost 200 years ago. But that makes it almost impossible for the reader to connect with anyone in this book, because you cannot empathise with any of them nor understand the reasoning behind their actions.
However, I found Wuthering Heights to be a great book. Emily Brontë does a wonderfull job in depicting the dynamics of dysfunctional families and how the darkness is passed on through the generations. I thought it was genius the way she created a micro-world, made up only of Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, as a way of indicating that the two families were inevitably linked and the characters had no way of escaping their fate. Because of that, we witness how everyone gets more and more corrupted by the darkness that surrounds them. And, to me, the merits of this books lie precisely in the character development, in how much the characters change under the influence of each other. That and the beautiful prose – there are some truly inspired moments of poetry in this book – which is, in itself, a great reason as to why everyone should read Wuthering Heigths.

Bueno. Teniendo en cuenta que este no es el tipo de historias que a mi me suelen encantar (me gusta a veces salirme de lo que suelo leer...) y que empecé el libro con un poco de mal pie... El resultado final no ha sido tan malo.
Cumbres borrascosas se centra básicamente en contarnos las relaciones que se producen entre dos familias a lo largo de bastantes años. Unas relaciones turbias, tóxicas y muy, MUY dramáticas. Los personajes son oscuros, egoístas y con una obsesión bastante marcada por el conflicto y la discordia. Parece que no son felices sin montar un buen cirio de vez en cuando. Y así va discurriendo la historia, contándonos como van evolucionando las relaciones entre estos personajes tan entrañables. No puedo negar que son unos personajes atípicos y eso hace a la obra especial, le da una identidad propia, y puedo llegar a entender por qué a tanta gente le fascina ese libro... Pero no ha sido mi caso. En ocasiones se me hacía todo demasiado melodramático hasta rozar lo absurdo (con personas que se ponían enfermas por una discusión, por ejemplo) y la inmensa mayoría de los personajes son tan detestables que es imposible llegar a empatizar o a cogerles cariño en lo más mínimo. Porque todos sabemos que hay villanos carismáticos pero... No es el caso. Si la intención de la autora era causar profundo rechazo por ellos, la verdad es que conmigo tuvo un éxito rotundo, porque yo solo quería que hubiese una bomba nuclear en medio de Cumbres Borrascosas y me diesen a mi el mando con el botón rojo para detonarla y mandarlos a todos a... Bueno, eso.
El drama y el salseo está ahí constantemente, es un libro entretenido, pero como historia a mi no me ha fascinado especialmente y no se quedará en mi memoria mucho tiempo... No se trata de un libro que me haya marcado de ninguna manera especial, ni por su trama, ni por sus personajes... Ni por nada en general. Ha estado bien leerlo, porque era un pendiente desde hace mucho, pero ahí se queda la cosa.
